A vibrant mix of business leaders, entrepreneurs, diplomats, and community representatives gathered at the Auckland Business Chamber for a powerful afternoon of conversation, connection, and collaboration. The Business Networking Event, jointly hosted by the Consulate General of India (Auckland), the Auckland Business Chamber, and the New Zealand Indian Central Association (NZICA), became a landmark occasion celebrating enterprise and cultural partnership between India and New Zealand.

The three-hour event, held on Saturday, 25 October 2025, offered more than business introductions. It became a living platform where ideas met opportunity, and where the Indian and Kiwi business communities explored shared goals in innovation, investment, and sustainable growth.

Sponsored by Universal Granite and Marbles, the session drew attendees from a wide range of industries-technology, education, construction, finance, and community services-reflecting the growing strength and diversity of the Indian business network across Aotearoa.

Distinguished Guests and Voices of Leadership

The program featured an impressive line-up of national and community leaders:

  • Dr Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India (Auckland), outlined India’s evolving global partnerships and stressed the importance of building long-term bilateral engagement through education, trade, and cultural diplomacy.
  • Simon Bridges, Chief Executive, Auckland Business Chamber, discussed Auckland’s entrepreneurial potential, calling for greater collaboration between emerging Indian enterprises and established New Zealand industries.
  • Veer Khar, President of NZICA, highlighted the organization’s century-long legacy of service since 1926 and its continued focus on uniting communities through leadership, advocacy, and opportunity.
  • Sunny Kaushal, Chairman, Independent Ministerial Advisory Group on Business and Community Safety, led the signature Changemakers Panel, moderating a thoughtful dialogue on resilience amid economic pressure, public safety, and the role of ethical leadership in rebuilding confidence.
  • Panel contributors Bharat Chawla, Sam Maharaj, Govardhan Mallela, and Vasu Kunapuli each shared personal journeys that bridged entrepreneurship and community responsibility, inspiring younger professionals to lead with vision and purpose.

The afternoon opened with a warm introduction from Dhansukh Lal, followed by Bala Venu Beeram, who served as Master of Ceremonies. A scientist by profession and community advocate by passion, Bala maintained the event’s rhythm with poise and humor, ensuring every session reflected both professionalism and cultural warmth.

A Platform for Ideas, Innovation, and Inclusion

Throughout the sessions, speakers agreed that mutual understanding and partnership are the new currencies of progress. Discussions ranged from digital transformation and artificial-intelligence adoption to bilateral trade reforms and educational collaboration between Indian universities and New Zealand institutions.

The Consulate General of India reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing these ties, encouraging entrepreneurs to look beyond traditional markets and engage with high-growth sectors such as green energy, fintech, and healthcare.

The Auckland Business Chamber emphasized that inclusivity and innovation are key drivers of Auckland’s regional economy, while NZICA reiterated its mission to act as a cultural bridge, helping migrant entrepreneurs integrate into the mainstream business landscape.

Delegates described the atmosphere as energizing and purposeful. Conversations moved easily from trade statistics to personal mentorship, and by the closing session, several participants had already initiated follow-up meetings and partnership ideas.

Community and Corporate Support

A special acknowledgment was extended to Siva Kilari and Universal Granite and Marbles, the principal sponsor, whose contribution made the event possible. Their ongoing support for professional and cultural initiatives continues to strengthen both the business ecosystem and the wider community network.

The organizers expressed gratitude to volunteers, media partners, and attendees whose enthusiasm turned the afternoon into a celebration of shared vision.

Building a Future of Partnership

By the end of the program, one message resonated across the room: collaboration is no longer optional- it is essential. The India–New Zealand partnership, built on trust, innovation, and cultural respect, is entering a new era of opportunity.

As the networking event concluded at the Auckland Business Chamber, attendees left with renewed optimism and a clear intention to keep building bridges between businesses, cultures, and communities.
