A Voice from the Community – Interview with Champa, General Secretary of Auckland Indian Association

As part of the coverage, WebfitNews spoke with Champa, the General Secretary of the Auckland Indian Association, who was present at the run.

Born and raised in New Zealand, Champa proudly shared her deep family roots in India, tracing back to Bombay and the villages of Nosadi and Machar. Despite being a Kiwi-born Indian, she continues to carry her cultural connections with pride while serving the local community.

When asked what keeps her going every day, she smiled and said:

“Life keeps going… I just get up every morning and walk my 10 K’s. I’m committed to the association and to staying active, no matter the weather. Whether it’s snow, hail, or rain, I’m out there.”

On sharing advice for the younger generation often caught up behind screens, Champa’s message was clear:

“You’ve got to be disciplined. You need to have a goal and commit to it. Get up, move, and don’t let excuses or the weather stop you.”

Her energy and commitment stood out as a source of inspiration for many at the event, reminding participants that fitness, service, and dedication to community go hand in hand.
