Kia ora, Auckland. The North Shore is gearing up for two large, family-friendly community celebrations. Organisers advise that both events offer free entry and free parking, with thousands expected to attend.

1) Northshore Garba Night

What: An evening of traditional Garba and Raas dance with community participation
When: Friday 19 September and Saturday 20 September 2025, from 7.00 pm
Where: Barfoot & Thompson Netball Centre, 44 Northcote Road, North Shore, Auckland
Who: Presented with support from community partners. Event team listed as Punish & Anna from Barfoot & Thompson
Entry & parking: Free entry and free parking, as advised by organisers

Tip: Bring your dandiya sticks and arrive early. This is a dance night suitable for all ages.


2) Northshore Diwali – Festival of Light

What: Day-long Diwali celebration with live dance performances, food stalls, arts and craft stalls, kids’ rides and a fireworks finale
When: Saturday 4 October 2025, 12.00 pm to 9.00 pm. Fireworks scheduled for 9.00 pm
Where: Hato Petera Sports Fields, 88 College Road, Northcote (near AUT, Akoranga Drive)
Entry & parking: Free entry and free parking, as advised by organisers
